Play free baccarat right here: punto banco with eight decks, play chips, and no download or sign-up. Bet on Player, Banker or Tie, press Deal, and the cards are drawn by the standard rules, so you never have to decide anything mid-hand. The built-in simulator deals your bets 100 or 1,000 times in a second to show how they really do over time.

Play chips only, no real money. Punto banco with 8 decks and the standard drawing rules. Player and Banker bets push on a tie.

How to Play This Free Baccarat Game

  1. Pick a chip. Choose 1, 5, 25 or 100. You start with 1,000 play chips and can top up when you run out.
  2. Bet on Player, Banker or Tie. You can back more than one. Tap again to add another chip.
  3. Press Deal. Two cards go to each hand, a third card is drawn if the rules say so, and the hand closest to 9 wins. Your bets stay on the table for the next hand.
  4. Try the simulator. With bets on the table, deal them 100 or 1,000 times to see how often each side won and what you would have staked and got back. It does not touch your play chips.

The row of coloured circles above the chips is the result history: B for Banker, P for Player and T for Tie, newest on the left.

Free baccarat game with Player on 1 and Banker on 4, bets on Banker and Tie, a 16-hand result history and a 1,000-hand simulator result
Banker wins 4 to 1 with bets on Banker and Tie, and a 1,000-hand simulation of the same bets.

Card Values and How a Hand Is Scored

Aces count 1, cards 2 to 9 count their face value, and tens and picture cards count 0. Add up the cards and keep only the last digit: a 7 and an 8 make 15, which counts as 5. So a hand is always worth 0 to 9. A two-card 8 or 9 is a natural, and if either hand has one, both stand and the hand is over.

When a Third Card Is Drawn

The Player hand draws a third card on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. If the Player stands, the Banker draws on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. If the Player has drawn, the Banker follows this table:

Banker’s totalWhat the Banker does
0, 1 or 2Always draws
3Draws unless the Player’s third card is an 8
4Draws if the Player’s third card is 2 to 7; otherwise stands
5Draws if the Player’s third card is 4 to 7; otherwise stands
6Draws if the Player’s third card is 6 or 7; otherwise stands
7Always stands

A ten or picture card counts as 0 here. The game applies these rules for you, exactly as a casino dealer would. The baccarat rules guide explains them in more detail, with a full Banker drawing chart.

Bets, Payouts and House Edge

BetChance to winPaysHouse edgeAverage cost per £100 bet
Banker45.86%1 to 1, less 5% commission1.06%£1.06
Player44.62%1 to 11.24%£1.24
Tie9.52%8 to 114.36%£14.36

These are the figures for eight decks. A tie comes up about 9.5% of the time, and when it does, Player and Banker bets are returned. Banker wins slightly more often than Player because of the drawing rules, which is why the casino takes 5% from Banker wins. Even after the commission, Banker is the cheapest bet on the table. The Tie bet pays 8 to 1, but a fair price for a 9.5% chance would be about 9.5 to 1, so it costs more than thirteen times as much as Banker.

What the Simulator Shows

Over a few hands, anything can happen. Over hundreds, the house edge shows through. These are the chances of being ahead after a number of hands, betting the same amount on the same side every time:

HandsAhead betting BankerAhead betting Player
1044%41%
10045%43%
1,00036%33%

Because the edge is small, baccarat keeps you close to even for longer than most casino games: after 100 hands on Banker you are ahead almost half the time. After 1,000 hands that falls to about one in three. Run the simulator a few times with the same bets and watch the results land on either side of that small average loss.

Do Patterns and Roads Help?

Live baccarat tables show score cards and “roads” that track past results, and many players look for streaks. Each hand is dealt from a large shoe, and what came before has almost no effect on what comes next. The history in this game is there so you can see how streaky random results look. The baccarat tips page covers betting sensibly, and the baccarat glossary explains the terms you will see at a live table.

Free Baccarat vs Real Money Baccarat

The free game plays exactly like punto banco in a casino, with nothing at stake, which makes it a good place to learn the drawing rules and the bets. Online casinos also run live dealer baccarat streamed from a studio, with variants such as speed baccarat and no-commission tables, where a Banker win on 6 often pays only half. In Great Britain, licensed casinos have to verify your age before you can play, even in demo mode.

Free baccarat: frequently asked questions

Can I play baccarat for free?

Yes. The game on this page uses play chips, so nothing is at stake and there is no download or sign-up. Many online casinos also offer baccarat in a free demo mode.

What version of baccarat is this?

Punto banco, the standard casino game, dealt from eight decks. Player and Banker draw by fixed rules, so you only choose what to bet on.

What does a Banker bet pay in baccarat?

Even money less a 5% commission, so a winning 100 bet returns 95 profit. Player pays even money and Tie pays 8 to 1.

What happens to Player and Banker bets on a tie?

They are returned. A tie comes up about 9.5% of the time with eight decks.

Which baccarat bet has the lowest house edge?

Banker, at 1.06% with eight decks, even after the 5% commission. Player is 1.24% and Tie, paying 8 to 1, is 14.36%.

When does the Player hand draw a third card?

On a total of 0 to 5. It stands on 6 or 7, and neither hand draws if either has a two-card 8 or 9.

What does the baccarat simulator do?

It deals the bets you have on the table 100 or 1,000 times and shows how often Player, Banker and Tie won and what you staked and got back, without using your play chips.

What are the chances of being ahead after 100 hands on Banker?

About 45%. After 1,000 hands it falls to about 36%, because the small house edge shows through the longer you play.
