Jhandi Munda is a dice game played across India with six dice, each marked with six symbols instead of numbers: spade, club, diamond, heart, crown and flag. You bet on a symbol, all six dice are thrown, and the more dice that land showing your symbol, the more you win. The same idea is played in Nepal as Langur Burja and, with three dice, in England as Crown and Anchor. Since October 2024 there has also been a casino version from TaDa Gaming, with a published RTP of 96% and a top payout of 200×.

This guide explains how the game is played, the exact odds of your symbol landing 0 to 6 times, why street versions do not pay on a single match, what TaDa’s version pays, and why the “tricks” sold online cannot work.

How to Play

  1. Place your bets. Put your stake on the board section of the symbol you think will come up. You can back more than one symbol.
  2. The dealer throws all six dice. In a street game they are shaken in a cup or by hand; online, the game rolls them.
  3. Count your symbol. For each symbol you backed, count how many of the six dice show it face up.
  4. Get paid. The more dice showing your symbol, the bigger the payout. Too few, and the stake is lost.

That is the whole game. What changes from one table to the next is the payout for each count — street games set their own rates, and they vary.

The Odds of Your Symbol Coming Up

With six fair dice, the chance of your symbol landing a given number of times can be worked out exactly. There are 6 × 6 × 6 × 6 × 6 × 6 = 46,656 ways the dice can fall:

Jhandi Munda odds for one symbol across six dice: 0 matches 33.5%, 1 match 40.2%, 2 matches 20.1% (TaDa pays 2.5x), 3 matches 5.4% (5x), 4 matches 0.80% (10x), 5 matches 0.06% (20x), 6 matches 1 in 46,656 (100x)

5300.06%1,555 throws

The most likely single result is one die showing your symbol (40.2%), and on average your symbol appears exactly once per throw. Two or more — the counts that pay in most versions — come up 26.3% of the time, a little more than one throw in four.

Why a Single Match Does Not Pay

Some guides online say one matching die pays even money, two pay 2 to 1, and so on up to 6 to 1. That is the Crown and Anchor rule, and it works with three dice. With six dice it cannot: because your symbol shows up once per throw on average, a banker paying even money for one match and more for each extra die would hand back about ₹166 for every ₹100 staked. No game runs like that for long. That is why six-dice versions pay only from two matches upward, and why the rates for each count matter so much.

TaDa Gaming’s Jhandi Munda

TaDa Gaming released a casino Jhandi Munda on 23 October 2024. It keeps the six dice and six symbols and adds a feature called Extra Pay, which can boost the payout on a winning symbol at random. From TaDa’s own game sheet and game screens:

What each count pays, as TaDa’s table shows it:

31:55.4%
41:100.80%
51:200.06%
61:1001 in 46,656

Those rates are the total you get back for each unit staked — a ₹100 bet with two matching dice returns ₹250. Worked through the odds above, the table alone returns about 86.6% of what is staked. The random Extra Pay boosts make up the difference to TaDa’s published 96%, and a boosted six-of-a-kind is where the 200× top payout comes from. As always, the figure in the game’s own help screen at your casino is the one that applies.

Langur Burja and Crown and Anchor

Jhandi Munda has close relatives. In Nepal the same six-dice game is called Langur Burja. In England, sailors of the Royal Navy played Crown and Anchor from the 18th century with three dice carrying crown, anchor, diamond, spade, club and heart. There, one match pays even money, two pay 2 to 1 and three pay 3 to 1, and the player gets back about 92 pence for every pound staked. The symbols are nearly the same; the number of dice is what changes the maths.

Tricks, “Hot” Symbols and Predictors

Videos and apps promising “100% winning tricks” for Jhandi Munda are easy to find. None of them can work. Each throw of fair dice is independent of the last: a symbol that has not appeared for ten throws is no more likely on the eleventh, and a “hot” symbol is no more likely to repeat. Online versions show recent results, but that history does not change the next roll. The only things you control are which symbols you back and how much you stake — the odds table above is the same every throw.

Jhandi Munda: frequently asked questions

What is Jhandi Munda?

Jhandi Munda is a dice game played with six dice marked with six symbols: spade, club, diamond, heart, crown and flag. Players bet on a symbol, all six dice are thrown, and the payout depends on how many dice show that symbol.

How do you play Jhandi Munda?

Place a bet on one or more symbols, the dealer throws the six dice, and you count how many show each symbol you backed. The more matching dice, the bigger the payout; too few and the stake is lost.

What are the six symbols in Jhandi Munda?

Spade, club, diamond, heart, crown and flag. Each of the six dice carries all six symbols, one on each face.

What are the odds in Jhandi Munda?

For one symbol on six fair dice: no match 33.5%, one match 40.2%, two 20.1%, three 5.4%, four 0.80%, five 0.06% and six 1 in 46,656. Two or more matches come up 26.3% of the time.

Does one matching die pay in Jhandi Munda?

In six-dice versions, usually not. A symbol appears once per throw on average, so paying even money for a single match would return more than was staked. Payouts normally start at two matching dice.

What does TaDa Gaming's Jhandi Munda pay?

Two matching dice pay 1:2.5, three 1:5, four 1:10, five 1:20 and six 1:100, with a random Extra Pay boost on top. TaDa publishes a 96% RTP and a top payout of 200x the bet.

Is there a trick to win Jhandi Munda?

No. Each throw of fair dice is independent, so past results, hot symbols and predictor apps cannot tell you what comes next. The odds are the same on every throw.

What is Jhandi Munda called in Nepal?

Langur Burja. The three-dice game with nearly the same symbols played in England is Crown and Anchor.
